This past week I harvested Parsnips, Brussels Sprouts and Potatoes. Just a few of each.
Parsnips "Duchess" |
Brussels Sprouts "Brilliant" |
Potatoes "Pink Fir Apple" |
I have written separately about all three of these, and there is not much more to tell, so this post is really just a way of recording the week's harvest in a consolidated fashion.
However, I did also pick a bit more salad, so here are some photos of that.
That is two small Lettuces, two very small Radicchio, and a handful of Landcress. Not a big haul, but certainly enough for a nice salad for two people.
This is a photo of the Landcress separately.
You pick it a few leaves at a time, and the plant produces more. You don't need a lot in a salad because it is quite peppery. It's a good Winter crop because it is fairly hardy, and since the plants are quite small they fit conveniently under even a small cloche.
This is my entry for Harvest Monday, hosted by Daphne's Dandelions,. Have a look to see what some other people have harvested this week...
I'm still drooling all over those Brussels sprouts. They just look so good. And we finally got a freeze so I'll be picking some of my parsnips this week. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteThose salad leaves look wonderful. How would you compare land cress to watercress?
ReplyDeleteI think Watercress wins in terms of its culinary qualities, but there's no doubt that Landcress is easier to grow.
DeleteLovely harvest, as always!
ReplyDeleteI should look into growing radicchio....
Looking forward to our sproutd
ReplyDeleteLovely sprouts and radicchio! I do wish I liked parsnips, but I haven't yet acquired a taste for them.
ReplyDeleteAgain, your parsnips are lovely! I'm going to have to try that variety next year. Incidentally, I don't tent to comment very regularly, but yours is definitely one of my favorite gardening blogs! Such beautiful photos and wonderful information.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment! I do try my best... :)
DeleteLovely harvests! The radicchio is getting more intensely colorful every week, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that you're still harvesting veggies! I just harvested my carrots. I always grate them for a carrot cake, which is much tastier than it sounds. :o)
