That happened to me. The following day I felt sort of unwanted. I also felt unwashed as, for the first day in my memory, I didn't get out of bed and into the shower. I moped around feeling sorry for myself. After lunch I went to the garden centre and haven't looked back since.
How wonderful!! I'm so happy for you...I have a feeling that tomorrow will literally be the start of a very different and rewarding journey for you.
Welcome to the best club in the world, before you know it you will be busier than you were when you worked
Welcome to the retirement world. After the hours, days, weeks, months, years you have put in to work, retirement is just what you need. Pursue interests you didn't know you had! Enjoy but start at slow. Savor these first months because you will get busier than you ever thought you could.
What Marcia said! The day I retired (early!) was the day I started my blog. Enjoy your retirement - may future events take you into unexpected, adventurous and delightful avenues :)
I'll ditto what others have said - welcome to the retirement club! I know I have been busier than ever since I retired, but it's a good kind of busy. I've had more time to enjoy gardening then ever before, and I bet you will too.
You lucky, lucky man. I would be retired now if the UK govt hadn't made me do another six years. Still, keeps me out of mischief. Enjoy your retirement - think of all the extra chilies you can grow!
Mark, I've been sensing your apprehension almost every time you mention your retirement. I expect it will take you a bit of getting used to, but you have at least several hobbies that can take up plenty of your time and energy and you might even develop a taste for more. I hope your health picks up a bit once your schedule eases up. I've been following you for a couple years and I really appreciate your attention to detail and tidiness as well as your thorough explanations. Keep up the great work!
After a few days I'm sure you'll start enjoying your days of retirement.:)
Surely you are too young to retire Mark ;DIt will take some time to come to terms with the changes (especially for your wife) I can say that because my hubby is contemplating doing the same.. argh!I wish you all the best and masses of enjoyment fulfilling all of those things, hobbies and activities that you've wanted to do for so long. But there's a great big job here if you're interested. I'd like raised veggie beds and I see that you're an expert. I'll provide meals and baking if that's a help?Take care... don't panic and relax. You've worked all of those years to bring you to this point. HAVE FUN!!! x
Wishing you all the best for the future. Now you've got all the time you need to tend your garden. Now don't be getting under Jane's feet, will you.
Best wishes Mark.
I am looking forward to my retirement...2 more years...thank goodness I like my job, those two years will fly by fast. Best Wishes, to you.
Best wishes for your retirement, Mark. I'm sure you'll relish it.
Congratulations Mark, and good luck with your next endeavours! I'm sure you'll be as busy as ever this summer, and wonder how you ever found time to work as well!
