Regular readers will know that I like to take "pretty" photos of my flowers and veg, as well as functional ones. This post shows off a few shots in which I have been using the editing facilities of Google's Picasa to give some photos the Vignette effect, with darkened edges as well as the usual frames. This effect tends to emphasise the main subject, whilst subduing the background.

These photos of bees and hoverflies are not vignettes, but I like them anyway...!

Lovely photos. I was trying to take some hoverfly photos the other day. It just wasn't happening. My little camera won't focus on what I want it to. My husband keeps telling me to use his camera when I need to, but I rarely do.
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful shots! Stunning colour on that dahlia. Your hoverfly photos reminded me of the ones I had taken on my coriander blooms.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Mine never come out like that however much I try!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I must admit that I never mess about with my photos, what you see is what you get. My Bishop of Llandaff isn't blooming yet but it's got buds, very exciting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! The ones with the vignette do really give focus to the subject. I love the bee photos too!
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that picassa had that capability - those photos are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDo you know our neighbours like your must find us mad, pointing cameras at what seems to be nothing, I do like vignettes but haven't played with photos for a while - too busy picking fruit
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, nice editing too :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and they do just show us how beautiful nature is.
