Autumn colours Part 2

Here is another collection of Autumn Colours photos - some of them a bit more unusual than others...

The Cotinus "Royal Purple" can always be relied upon for a fine performance.

Asparagus is not a plant you would normally associate with Autumn colours, but take a look at this:-

Here's another one of my favourite Dogwood - Cornus Alba "Aureum" - whose leaves during the Summer are a bright golden yellow. In the late Autumn afternoon sunlight they are now a warm glowing shade of pink.

This one is an Autumn colour that is truly "up my street", because it's on an edible plant. It's a Chicory of some sort . I don't know the variety, because it was from a mixed pack.

This is a Flower Sprout plant:

And this is an Autumn colour that ought not to be seen until January... (the photo is a bit blurry because it is zoomed many times over).

Purple Sprouting Broccoli

So, as you can see, there is still plenty of colour in the garden , though little of it is contributed by flowers.

  1. Ah, but the dogwood I suspect was quite floral in the spring :) I always appreciate your fresh veggie perspective Mark :)

  3. Lovely photos Mark! I love fall colors. They are so deep and rich. My favorite is the purple broccoli! But the chicory is stunning as well. Hmmm...I don't see any snakes :) :)

  5. Very nice. My asparagus never gets that color. Mine is still quite green.

  6. It just shows that flowers are only a small contribution to colour in the garden.

  7. I wish we could have a bit of sun so I could take some autumn leaf photos but they'll have fallen off by the time I get the chance
