Good things come to those who wait...

My chillis are certainly playing hard-to-get this year. Despite having shown the first signs of redness some three or four weeks ago, most of them are still resolutely only half-ripe!

The "Fuego F1" plant is laden with fruit, but only a couple of them are fully ripe:

The "Pinocchio's Nose" get more bizarre by the day:

The "Short Fat" or "Cherry Bomb" looks very appealing. Will it be hot and spicy, though?

This is my first batch of harvested chillis: 3 Feugo F1 (top), 2 Hot Portugal (bottom) and two Cherry Bomb.


Photographing these chillis was no easy task. They are so bright and glossy, I just ended up getting unwanted reflections all over the place!

  2. Nice photos. My hot chili peppers are all harvested and the plants disposed of. Your plants are much bigger so maybe takes longer to ripen the chilies. Mine weren't as hot as I would have liked. Hope yours are to your liking!

  3. You're right. Those Pinocchio peppers are very bizarre! LOL! My Cherry Bomb peppers are still green!

  4. Lovely. Those Cherry bombs can be somewhat hot, but I've never had one that was very hot.

  8. I wonder if the first ones are called hot Portugal because when ripening they look like the colours of the Portuguese flag. I'm looking for a chilli for stuffing with a medium to mild heat shaped like cherry bomb so I would be interested to know how hot it was.

  11. You're growing a good variety. I'm not growing chilies, but my sweet peppers are only just starting to ripen now.
