Chile Poblano

This is for all the sceptics out there who said that they had never seen a Poblano chilli go red when ripe. One of mine is going red...


Well, yes, more brown than red, but defnitely not green any more. Given time, I think it will go much redder than this.


It looks more than ever like a Capsicum / Sweet Pepper / Bell Pepper, doesn't it?

  2. They do look lovely all together in the basket. I've just picked 15 yellow chillies from one allotment plant, and I'm really not sure what to do with them all.

  3. Ohhhh my 'Poblanos' are the same. How are you going to serve yours? I'm planning to roast mine whole then de seed & open up on a tortilla & fill with a fajita filling. Got the idea from an old River Cottage programme.

    1. I'm planning to dry (and possibly smoke) mine, with a view to using them to flavour some beans sometime in the middle of Winter.

  4. Your chillis are so colorful and pretty in the basket. I think it's worth growing them, whether or not you eat them, just for the color! I don't know how you and Jane manage to eat so many chillis. Like to hear more ways to fix them and how to deal with the "hotness" of most.

    1. Egretta, we don't really eat all that many chillis. I grow lots, and we do use some, but many of them are grown purely for their ornamental value!
