Today's harvest

July is one of the most productive months of the year. This is what I harvested today:

In this basket are Broccoli, Turnips, Asparagus, Broad Beans, Strawberries and a Cucumber.

I wish I could write more and/or show you some more photos, but it has taken me about an hour to produce even this paltry amount of material, so I'm going to have to stop. The photos of Antwerp Zoo will have to wait for another time!

  1. Blogger can be such a nuisance at times. Great harvest, I've never grown broccoli in the summer, I think I may have to start.

  2. We need to pick some broad beans tomorrow as yesterday we had too much (well not really TOO much - only time wise) fruit to pick and peas.

  3. Is there is a special secret with your late asparagus, or are you very wisely picking a little longer this year as with the cold spring they started up later. Perhaps like I do you are just sneaking a few late shoots among the now heavy top.
See you have been on holiday - nice shots. Perhaps you missed I gave you a mention on my recent post on runner beans last week!

  4. Roger, it's as you suspected: I have continued harvesting later this year, because the first spears were only ready about 3 weeks later than usual. I've stopped now, so that the plants can build up their strength - hopefully for a better harvest next year.

  8. Great harvest. I am having the same trouble as you with Blogger so have decided to do my posts on Microsoft Live Writer which uploads photos as well and transfers to your blog. I may give Blogger another go just in case it is working properly again but if not it is curtains.
