Colours of Summer

Earlier this year I bought a few plants that I thought would brighten-up my garden during the Summer. One of these is in full flower right now. It is Gaillardia "Arizona Sun". Since Arizona seems to be one of the hottest places on earth, I think this cultivar is aptly named! See what you think of this...

Isn't that fabulous? A great addition to my garden - and only £3.49 too.

I have another Gaillardia too, called "Burgunder", which has deep red (Burgundy?) coloured flowers. It is a bit later than the "Arizona Sun" and it has buds but no open flowers just yet.

  1. Lovely colours indeed. I have a Gaillardia 'Oranges and Lemons' but the flowering period was quite short lived and it is now fading :-(

I hope your variety last longer as it is beautiful

  3. It's a cracker. I can see that you're slowly being bitten by the flower bug, they're a great addition to a garden alongside the veggies, aren't they?

  4. oh, ho, Mark, the flower bug has bitten, as Jo says! The Gaillardia certainly adds a pretty splash of color to the garden. I happen to love flowers mixed with vegetables!

  5. It is mid winter here in Mildura Australia and my Gaillardia is flowering also. Here it self seeds and comes again next year, so you may be able to save some seed heads for next season. My garden is very messy compared your your neat patch. I let many things go to seed to see what will self seed, now I just need them to self weed.
