Radishes. These are "Flamboyant 5", a variant of "French Breakfast".
Baby Leaf Salad. My own mix, but with a strong element of Rocket and Greek Cress.
Rhubarb "Victoria".
Good King Henry. Treat these shoots as you would Purple Sprouting Broccoli. In other words, cook very briefly. You can use the leaves as you would use Spinach.
Well, it's not a huge harvest, but at least it's a start! (And of course I don't count the herbs; we're always using herbs. We take them for granted.)

ReplyDeleteYour post is reminding me that I had every intention of harvesting rhubarb this weekend, but managed to forget about it! Your rhubarb looks delicious, as does the radishes. I failed to put any into the ground and don't have any as a result.
ReplyDeleteThe radishes are beautiful. The mixed greens are really nice too. I really like watercress but have never grown them. I like that you have your own green mix. That's a very good idea.

ReplyDeleteDo you eat the radish leaves too? That would be a nice addition to your peppery salad mix. Your radishes are perfect looking. I have to confess to buying radishes at the farmer's market since I can never seem to harvest radishes at the proper time - always too small or too big.

Either my lettuces haven't come up or they've come up and been eaten by monopods before I rise in the morning. Maybe I should have planted radishes instead.

ReplyDeleteIt's a great feeling when the harvests start to arrive. Radishes are so photogenic, I think it's the tempting colour which does it.

Oh it's all going on! I've got rhubarb too but am waiting patiently for my tomatoes to be big enough to plant!
