I think, if you don't mind, I would like to copy this structure, it's pea time for us here too. The foxes don't eat the peas (as far as I know!), but they do root around in the soil of the raised beds, thereby uprooting plants, seedlings, seeds, fleece, - anything that happens to be in the way. I think they are hunting for worms (and you know I have a lot of those in my garden!)Mark Willishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04558305122821209520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-5212545481371897982011-03-16T17:03:35.785+00:002011-03-16T17:03:35.785+00:00Interesting that the foxes are a danger to your be...Interesting that the foxes are a danger to your bean and pea seedlings. Thankfully ours have never shown an interest. Although last year, I did have REAL issues with mice. Every morning, I would find the small plants up rooted, without the bean seed.Took me a while to figure out what was causing it, kept thinking it was pigeons. I gave up seeding direct, and only plant out when they are pretty established.Petra Hoyer Millarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16296517205546625785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-37258509975391496332011-03-16T15:55:01.426+00:002011-03-16T15:55:01.426+00:00By the time the peas and beans start to grow and c...By the time the peas and beans start to grow and climb those fences you won't even see the fences anymore. I only have dwarf peas at the moment, and have started them off in pots, same with the broad beans, but when I get a chance I can plant the first of the broad beans out. Good luck keeping the fox and other pests at bay. Love the "heir and spare" idea of sowing extra at the end of the row, will pinch that!Janet/Plantaliscioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15605580157193047780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-14426646625916724312011-03-16T10:29:21.158+00:002011-03-16T10:29:21.158+00:00Great pea set up!
