Fortunately, I have a replacement for me when I am gone and, should she ask I would certainly return the favor! I agree whole-heartedly with your statements about rain catchment and grey water recycling. I find it reprehensible that a civilized country uses potable water to dispose of human waste. It is ridiculous.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14490964982321159910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-87244749601494373972012-06-10T06:09:56.017+01:002012-06-10T06:09:56.017+01:00I used pot saucers all summer and now that it is m...I used pot saucers all summer and now that it is monsoon and we are receiving good rain ever other day I have had to remove them.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05116948659300626522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-8511687979141065812012-06-09T14:12:36.267+01:002012-06-09T14:12:36.267+01:00I haven't seen those self watering kits before...I haven't seen those self watering kits before. Second: wait till the wind subsides (the plants are actually better off in the prone position until this happens!) and then right them; firm up the soil around their roots and if possible tie them to some canes or stakes until they re-establish.Mark Willishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04558305122821209520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-68126582731000698802012-06-09T01:06:37.134+01:002012-06-09T01:06:37.134+01:00I wish our new house had a system like that. I'm having a bit of anxiousness as I've planted my veg garden at the new house while we are still in the old house for at least another month. I cannot hover over them as I normally would. Luckily, we are still in the rain-er (lol) season here, so the plants are receiving plenty of moisture.
