The sage gets woody and has to be replaced. I usually buy a new plant but rooting cuttings sounds like a good idea.David Veltenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07710293718143454000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-14265505878436813682015-04-01T00:47:54.140+01:002015-04-01T00:47:54.140+01:00Most of the herbs you mentioned overwinter here fa...Most of the herbs you mentioned overwinter here fairly well; I have also had a lemon thyme die on me after only one year, but it may be borderline hardy in my area. I'll probably try that one again as you never know - perhaps it was just a bad year or location.Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-2236170679410589332015-03-31T20:13:02.044+01:002015-03-31T20:13:02.044+01:00I have never tried sage cuttings and as our plant ...I have never tried sage cuttings and as our plant needs trimming I will try and see if my cuttings can be so successful! We too often by seeds from Wilkinson/Aldi they are particularly good for things like the salad crops. We already have parsley, sage, rosemary and mint. I'm going to have to put some cutting in different parts of the yard to keep it going. At least the French thyme. The English thyme seems to be pretty reliable here.
