I started mine from stalks and it's unfixably infested with lemongrass rust, which doesn't seem to hurt the taste or vigor of the plant but looks a mess.<br />2) The edges of the leaves are finely serrated, so if you harvest or prune while wearing short sleeves your arms will get completely covered in shallow slashes. megatheriumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06360552979613876145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-29819958669001370832016-06-26T18:39:58.992+01:002016-06-26T18:39:58.992+01:00I didn't know you were born in Malaysia! I've tried overwintering lemongrass outside in an unheated greenhouse (unintentionally!) and it all died. It even died earlier in the spring when I put it out and the nights were still a bit cold. So I'd definitely recommend giving it warmth and tlc and then it will keep growing well. Good luck and enjoy the cooking! dogwooddayshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08511905463539276590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-81747210346374018712016-06-26T02:16:05.028+01:002016-06-26T02:16:05.028+01:00I've only found fresh lemon grass once over he...I've only found fresh lemon grass once over here, I will have to see if Simply Seeds will post to Ireland.Anne Wilsonhttp://anirishalternative.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-38913644132706129542016-06-25T22:56:09.258+01:002016-06-25T22:56:09.258+01:00I can't comment on growing it in the UK, but I...I can't comment on growing it in the UK, but I have grown it here in the states for several years now. I've tried growing it from seed, but liked the plants I started from stalks better. I currently have one plant in a container and one in the ground, which I will dig up before winter comes. It's not hardy here for sure, but I've been able to keep it going over the winter under grow lights.Dave @ HappyAcreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03441364543023807886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-50454403055744740012016-06-25T18:52:32.067+01:002016-06-25T18:52:32.067+01:00Something we have never tried growing.Something we have never tried growing.Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-48727913840783103582016-06-25T18:45:28.848+01:002016-06-25T18:45:28.848+01:00Pam, I got my Lemongrass seeds from Simply Seeds. ...Pam, I got my Lemongrass seeds from Simply Seeds. http://www.simplyseed.co.uk/herb-seeds/lemon-grass-seeds.html 500 seeds for £1.49.
