And looks like you will be in for quite a few blueberries - just might make up for the lack of pears!Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-52534876399419145932015-06-21T19:03:52.381+01:002015-06-21T19:03:52.381+01:00The garden is coming along great. I agree, the cucumber problem could just be wind burn or cold - they are a heat loving plant. And I third the suggestion you may need another pear variety for pollination. When I planted my Asian pears, I put in three different varieties.David Veltenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07710293718143454000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-42932240383768885022015-06-21T02:16:11.008+01:002015-06-21T02:16:11.008+01:00Your garden is looking so good this year Mark, esp...Your garden is looking so good this year Mark, especially the broad beans. But then you'd be saying you have cucumber beetles (that transmit the wilt) on your cucumber plants too. I'm not sure I've ever seen a UK gardener complain of wilt, so it is probably something else.

Those runner beans look fabulous. I've always liked runner beans because of their showy flowers. Perhaps you should add a compatible variety to the garden or graft another variety onto the tree?

Those broad beans look beautiful. BTW, I do enjoy an occasional nibble at the tender young leaves. Have you ever tried your broad beans grilled? The entire pod becomes edible so it really maximizes the harvest.

Your garden is coming along beautifully, thanks for the update, I always enjoy a good garden "tour".Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812702328134261533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3840827850297141825.post-30432936180727489022015-06-20T14:51:18.372+01:002015-06-20T14:51:18.372+01:00The slugs are making a bee lone - or slime trail f...The slugs are making a bee lone - or slime trail for our climbing beans. So planting leeks as you have done, will be one of the delightful garden "chores" this week!Jane Stronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05016381279699618539noreply@blogger.com
